To mark the ’Adma exhibition dedicated to Adlane Samet, Adeline Bailleux poetically describes the artist’s works on her Instagram account @art_et_lit_tes_ratures.
“The colours explode. Intense, saturated, almost joyful, BUT make no mistake.
In Adlane Samet’s work, the light does not illuminate… it reveals a sense of unease, a tension, an ancient pain lurking beneath the surface.
Dislocated bodies, oversized hands, frozen gazes.
Each figure seems suspended, caught between two worlds.
As if the material itself bore the weight of a wounded memory.
The artist grew up in Algeria in the 1990s, at the heart of a decade marked by violence.
He does not paint this period head-on, but it inhabits every stroke.
Each canvas is an attempt to stand tall, despite the fall.
A way of resisting, of clinging to what remains: the bone, Adma, which has become a signature.
Paintings that shock, that unsettle. Because they do not lie.
Exhibition ‘ADLANE SAMET – ADMA’ from 13 March to 12 April 2025.”
